Cheney makes plans to nuke Iran

(Wait. Let's stop right there and ponder for a moment. Can a veep command the Pentagon to do anything? Apparently so! And here, you always thought the President was the Commander in Chief...)
Back to our story: Dick Cheney has personally instructed the Pentagon to draw up plans to nuke Iran immediately after the next terror attack. And we all know that such an attack is inevitable.
Iran will fry even if that nation has nothing to do with the terrorism!
The Pentagon, acting under instructions from Vice President Dick Cheney's office, has tasked the United States Strategic Command (STRATCOM) with drawing up a contingency plan to be employed in response to another 9/11-type terrorist attack on the United States.
The plan includes a large-scale air assault on Iran employing both conventional and tactical nuclear weapons. Within Iran there are more than 450 major strategic targets, including numerous suspected nuclear-weapons-program development sites.
Many of the targets are hardened or are deep underground and could not be taken out by conventional weapons, hence the nuclear option. As in the case of Iraq, the response is not conditional on Iran actually being involved in the act of terrorism directed against the United States.
Several senior Air Force officers involved in the planning are reportedly appalled at the implications of what they are doing--that Iran is being set up for an unprovoked nuclear attack--but no one is prepared to damage his career by posing any objections.
The lives of untold millions may be saved if those officers develop a conscience and go public.
We need to get the Democratic Party Leadership interested in this story. And the rank-and-file. And the media.
Of course, right-wing propagandists have tried to convince us that Mr. and Mrs. Average Iranian really, really love America, deep in their hearts. That, presumably, is why Dick Cheney wants to turn them into glowing green vapor stew, even if they are innocent of any crime against us.
Cuba accepts US offer of hurricane help

State Department spokesman Sean McCormack said Havana responded positively to a US offer Monday to send in a needs-assessment team after the storm that knocked out power and forced the evacuation of some 260,000 Cubans.
McCormack said a three-member team from the Office of US Foreign Disaster Assistance was preparing to travel to Fidel Castro's Caribbean nation and make recommendations on further action.
"Any assistance would be provided through independent non-governmental organizations," the spokesman said. The United States and Cuba have not had diplomatic relations for more than four decades.
US officials could not recall a case of Castro's government agreeing to American help before.
"This is the first time that they have accepted an offer of assistance -- at least in the collective memory banks here at the State Department," McCormack said.
He declined to link Cuba's attitude to Havana's offer of assistance to the United States to help victims of Hurricane Katrina that battered the US Gulf Coast at the end of August.
"You'd have to ask the Cuban government their motivations," McCormack said.

The day that I have seen a Ghanaian doctor enter the emergency room in May 1989 ,I blessed GOD ,it was in Moncton, Canada. Gérard Étienne was bleeding in the brain, it was a matter of minutes of life and death.
Knowing what doctor Quartey had to do to have the job done, I felt relieved I knew he would save my life by saving Gérard's.
The day after the first surgery I asked him the big question :how many neurosurgeons in Ghana ? The answer was two, one in Moncton NB, Canada, the other in Baltimore, USA .
I felt sorry but felt also that it was destiny he was the only surgeon on earth that I would have trusted for my husband’s brain........

After more than four days without electricity and Telephone, today I was able to be online and get back to reality. I was shocked to see how your beautiful garden and backyard were severely damaged by hurricane Wilma.
I can understand your frustration and your disappointment when such a beautiful garden that took years and years to grow, was gone in hours. Sometimes it is not easy to accept facts of life but I am please to see how strong you are and that you are ready to start all over again.

Je suis de mon coté complètement immergé dans l'écriture, le bonheur de vivre et l'écoulement des jours. Tu es vivant. Le Coin de Carl persiste. C'est encore la, un nouveau triomphe des gens heureux! Ceux qui n'ont pas d'histoires et qui font l'histoire!
L'homme qui incarne une idée altruiste et généreuse s'enrichit de l'amitié et de la fortune de tous ceux qui suivent sa même trajectoire. Son paysage existentiel est une palette de couleurs vives qui se renouvelle au fil des jours dans une sereine plenitude.

LE COIN DU LIVRE
"LA DÉSENCHANTÉE" de Michelle Voltaire Marcelin. 95 pages, Les Éditions du CIDHICA, Montréal 2005.
Quel délice ce roman qui prend place en Haiti! Un chef-d’œuvre ! Quel talent ! Quelle fine plume ! On se croirait lisant un roman des grands auteurs francais du 17ième ou du 18ième siècle. Si bien écrit, si bien dit. Merci, Michelle !
Michelle Voltaire Marcelin, née à Port-au-Prince en 1955, est peintre et comédienne. Avant de résider aux Etats-Unis, elle a vécu en Haiti et au Chili. « LA DÉSENCHANTÉE » est sa première œuvre de fiction. D’après son image sur le couvert, le plumage se rapporte au ramage. Je voudrais bien faire sa connaissance.
Le livret n’étant pas long, je le lirai pour vous à presque part entière, chapitre par chapitre, sur le CDC. Il vaut la peine. D’Ayiti ou pas, homme ou femme, l’on se reconnaît là-dedans à plusieurs reprises. Et quel beau style ! Quelle transparence dans la simplicité des mots.

« LA DÉSENCHANTÉE »

Cela fait très longtemps que je vis seule dans ce pays lointain ou s’écoulent les saisons. Dans cet immeuble anonyme, au bout de ce couloir interminable, dans cette petite chambre où plus personne ne vient me voir, toutes les nuits se ressemblent. Réfugiée dans un fauteuil, à la lueur d’une lampe, je contemple des photos que je sors au hasard d’une boîte métallique.
Soudain, je suis traversée en coup de vent par mon passé. De part en part, traversée par ces souvenirs qui vont se fracasser contre le miroir. La boîte a glissé de mes mains et les photos se sont éparpillées. Je me suis penchée pour les ranger et en sortant de mon vertige, j’ai levé la tête. Qui est ce vieil oiseau aux yeux fanés que reflète la glace. C’est un fantômme qui regarde d’autres fantômes.

La photo est floue et il n’y a pas de date. Mais cette robe à tarlatane, corolle blanche étalée, je la portais un dimanche de Pâques. Ils sont là, mes trois frères : Jean, Francois et Pierre. Et puis moi. Trois frères, et la dernière qui restera. Quel air de bonheur sur nos visages.
Mon enfance s’étire devant moi. Longue. Longue dans ma mémoire. Gravée en moi comme au tranchant d’un rasoir. On est jamais quitte avec son passé. Il vous rattrape toujours. Cette photo est le fil conducteur qui me ramène à cette histoire ancienne. Cette petite fille en volants blancs existe-elle encore ? Ce n’est pas elle qui voudrait effacer ce rêve de famille heureuse. Mais avant que je ne perde la clarté des mots, avant que les souvenirs ne pourrissent dans les marécages de ma mémoire, comme Pandore, je vais ouvrir cette boîte à secrets.
Le pays de l’enfance a une certaine odeur et il en émane une lumière particulière. Nous habitions à la Croix-des-Vents, près d’un sentier qui menait vers la mer. Pas loin d’un terrain où étaient liées en bales des racines de vétiver. Ce parfum boisé, tenace, qui semblait sortir, de la terre même, ce parfum prêt pour moi à toujours revenir, il me suffit de l’évoquer pour que me revienne en bouffées toute mon enfance.
Tout était blanc. Blanc de soleil. Les champs de canne à l’horizon et le reflet des galets sur la plage. Je me souviens d’une maison vaste et claire à l’entrée de laquelle fleurissait un jasmin. Il y avait un piano-punition dans la bilbliothèque de mon père, une grande chambre à trois lits pour mes frères, des mosaiques au sol, des murs tachés du rose des lauriers, et un chêne dont les fleurs minuscules couvraient le rectangle bleu de la piscine.
Dès la tombée du jour, on allumait les lampes et la lueur attirait les insectes qui venaient mourir dans les globes de verre.
