THE BANKER’S CLUB

1 BISCAYNE BOULEVARD

MIAMI, FLORIDA

THURSDAY 27 JULY 2006, I had the great pleasure of being part of a funds raising at The Banker’s Club on Biscayne Boulevard, organized by Anthony D. Box, Esquire.

It was a very successful evening with approximately one hundred Haitian-American professionals .  The goal was to raise a final $65,000 dollars for the monument in honor of our Haitian ancestors who fought for the war of independence of the United States of America in Savannah, Georgia.

A second event at the Mocca Museum in the city of North Miami was held the next day for the same purpose.  The inauguration of the Haitian monument in Savannah, Georgia will take place on October 9, 2006.  It is a date close to my heart which will remind me of my father Charles Fombrun, a Haitian statesman, who was born on that date. The paultry sum of $150.00 dollars will permit me to have my name inscribed on the monument.

At The Banker’s Club, for starters, my friend Dr. Rudy Moise gave a check for $5000 dollars.  Another friend, Alix Montes, Esquire gave a check for $1000 dollars.  Many in the assistance contributed but being that I had to leave with Dr. Moise for another destination, I do not have the final figures.

This is an appeal to all Haitians who have a sense of pride in Haitian history, to contribute whatever they can afford.  No amount of money is too small.  Give whatever you can.

BATS-TOI !

Bats-toi ! Serre les poings et bats-toi !
Contre ceux qui veulent
T'empêcher d'être heureux
Bats-toi ! Et tu seras libre
Mais quoi qu'il arrive
Ne baisse pas les bras
Oh non, non !

Bats-toi ! Serre les poings et bats-toi !
Contre ceux qui pensent
Qu'ils sont plus forts que toi.

La vie de chaque jour est un combat
Et si l'on te fait tomber quelque fois
Même si tu as très mal, relève-toi... Relève-toi !
Il faut te battre pour la vérité
Te battre pour défendre tes idées
Alors tu finiras, tu finiras... Par gagner !

 Bats-toi ! Serre les dents et bats-toi !
Contre ceux qui disent
Que toujours tu perdras.

Encore et encore, un jour tu gagneras !

LIFE CONTINUES INDEED…

It takes all kinds to make a world…

Many sects in the Hindu religion, some, because of their beliefs in re-incarnation, will not kill any creature, just in case that members of their family could be re-incarnated in another world, other than the human kind.

Life in parts of China…

Hata la vista, Miami.  I shall return !
