QUOTE OF THE DAY OBJECTIVE OF DEMOCRACY 1) To extend equal rights and opportunities to all citizens. 2) To obtain the self-respect of every individual. 3) To increase the critical intelligence of the population as a whole. 4) To make cooperation and civility possible. Cooperation demands full knowledge of how our actions affect others, an appreciation of our inter-dependence and a willingness to pursue common goals. All suggest a heightened involvement with others in our community, institutions and professions.

MY ANSWER
Dear Myriam, I am certainly happy to hear from you and to be part of your positive energy. More power to you! I just received a phone call from Chairman Daniel Fils-Aimé, offering graciously to pick-me up at my home and I accepted. Not wishing to be a statistic, with all the carnage on the road, I am comfortable with Daniel at the wheel. He has already proven himself to me; he already drove me from Jacksonville to Savannah and back. He is an outstanding driver and a wonderful companion. We do laugh quite a bit when we are together. Looking forward to a great lunch and a successful fundraising for the HAITIAN-AMERICAN HISTORICAL SOCIETY. Don Carlo

POVERTY
(by Robert Noel)
(some extracts)
The root cause of poverty is spiritual and if we are going to make a difference that is fundamental in eradicating poverty around the world we must look at the spirit. God promise to bless all of the family of the earth trough the seed of righteousness; I believe that God can only bless us trough our spirit…It is the spirit that empowers us to prosper. When I look at the devastating effects of AIDS and hunger in Africa, I know that the cause is poverty.
I did not know that China and India were considered rich countries. I believe that they were considered emerging nations, on the brink, just breaking the barrier past the level of poor countries. These two countries are promising nations to soon join the rank of rich nation but still the majority of their populations are living in poverty. Though China and India account for 60% of the world population, they are still behind the Europeans or whites nations.
My point is that when I look at the disparities that exist between whites and blacks, the extreme poverty that exists in Africa, the trailing of blacks consistently behind whites around the world, I can only see Negation as the cause. There is a natural disposition in people to negate that WHICH IS BLACK. There is an impulse imbedded in the psyche of people that is driving them to cut off blacks out of the possibilities of this world, denies them their existence; I think that we must first address this problem before we can solve the cause of poverty.
Bill Gates and Bill Clinton are just some of those who want to alleviate the world of poverty. I think that no amount of resources they may have will make much difference or a lasting difference in their fight against poverty, without a spiritual understanding of the cause of poverty. I believe that people must also be involved in their spiritual transformation if the fight is going to be successful. Like rain drops trying to fill the vastness of the ocean without much success, it is the same fighting poverty without awareness. We can never have enough resources to totally eradicate poverty around the world. It will take the likes of a global warming to make a dent in the level of the ocean; as such it will take awareness to make a fundamental difference in our fight against poverty. Without awareness of the forces that restrain and keep humanity behind in a state of stagnation all of our efforts will be absorbed by the enormity of the problem.

FRITZ MONDÉ
Dear Carl, Yesterday I watched a sad state of affairs in Africa. Where the disease of AIDS runs rampant without checks or balances. Christiane Amanpour, a dedicated newswoman didn't seem overwhelmed by the situation she reported on, and I presume it is because she has seen worst, far worst, covering the world's detritus of events. I watched the program of no hope because these “hermanos y hermanas” live far away from the harried reality I live in. No, I do not have to wake up to the frightful stages of AIDS, no I do not have to send my partner to prostitute in a nearby town to bring food home because the children and I are starving. But, let's say I were to lose my job, let's say I got fired and was denied unemployment insurance. What would I do then? I know, I'd don on a mask and rob the local bank, and with my amateurishness I'd certainly be welcomed into the vast slave ship that are the prisons and bane of black America. Or I could sell drugs and hide them from my growing teenage daughter and inquisitive son. Yeah! That's right I could sell it from a corner, 1000 ft. away from a school, so if I'm busted I won't have to do hard time. Or I can get a gat, that's gun, for you who do not know, and become an American Ton-Ton Macoute and work at the behest of the highest bidder. Read, well paid assassin. No, really I would take on a $9.83 hourly job at Publix's from 6:00 a.m until 2:00 p.m and then come home drop off the kids from school and go to my security job from 6:00 p.m until 2:00am. One day my partner would come home and find me on the sofa seemingly watching TV until she noticed the food dribbling out of my mouth because I choked on it from the massive heart attack I had from the stress of working class America. It does happen like that, really, you know. The African women last night in the show. Proud, emaciated women who are as friendly with life as with death that hovers infinitesimally near. They know they are at the end. A dusty road leading nowhere for them, but a sliver of freedom for one, one of those children she labors to feed and save. Write a check and send them money. Yes, that would ease our conscience but not their burden. Adopt one of their children. No. Let's leave that for Angelina Jolie. How about the major pharmaceutical companies contributing for free the drugs badly needed to keep these poor proud people alive. Much like we keep Earvin 'Magic' Johnson alive. Yes, that's the answer. But you know buddy boy, the head honcho up in stratosphere land, chairman of the board ain't gonna give it up like that. Shit let those poor black 'negritos' die is the conservative thought emanating from across the boardroom world. However, if we can get some mileage out of this. Like worthy news stories that prop up our business model and gets our shareholders greater dividends and off of our backs in shareholders meetings, then, why hell boy, that just might work. That's honky-tonk for I'll scratch your back and you'll scratch mine. Money wise that is. I feel sorry for people in a bind like that but I look at the world I live in and cannot compare their misery for mine. Like they say whenever you feel that your situation is bad, like my Dad says, god bless him, there's always someone worster. On the serious side. What can we really do? Let's hear you opine! Fritz Mondé MY ANSWER Dear Fritz, Let’s give credit where credit is due:
Bill Clinton, Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, Richard Branson, Ted Turner. Some examples: Bill Clinton just raised $7 billion-plus over three days from 215 different commitments. Bill Gates gave 43 billions dollars to combat AIDS in Africa. Warren Buffet gave 39 billions. Richard Branson, Chairman of Virgin Atlantic Airlines, whom I had the pleasure of meeting at a party, gave 3 billion dollars. Ted Turner was a big donor too. We still have some good people in this world regarless of their roots or political affiliation. Let’s keep the momentum going, everyone according to their means. Hope springs eternal.
Se pousa anpil moun mouri nan peyi isit pou dwa chak moun gen dwa vote ak entelijans epi yon konpreansyon pou chak kandida pou yo konnen kote yo gad… Vil Miami-an pa janm fè moun pov yon priorite e li chaje ak koripsyon.
Moun pov tou gen pou yo pran avantaj systèm la.Fanmi pov yo elijib pou 4 mil dola tonton Sam chak lanne anba yon plan ki rele « Earned Income Tax Credit, » e yo gen dwa pou yo aplike pou kob sa-a. Inspektè biro tax tonton Sam-la yo di chak lanne gen yon band malere kap viv vil Miami ki gen dwa pou aplike pou kob sa-a e yo domi bliye.
Alos, koulye-a se pou nou pale de moun pov systèm la kite dèyè kamionèt-la. Jeb Bush pa janm fè anyen pou moun pov yo. Jeb Bush pa janm ofri yon grenn pwopozisyon pou li ede moun pov Miami-yo, men li toujou ap deklare la travay ak majistra epi komisyonè yo, si yo mande ed li.
