QUOTE OF THE DAY

Laughter is the language of the Gods.

Buddhist saying

PEOPLE COME INTO

YOUR LIFE FOR A REASON

“ People come into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime. When you know which one it is, you will know what to do for that person. When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed. They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend and they are. They are there for the reason you need them to be.
Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk away. Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand. What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done. The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.
Some people come into your life for a SEASON, because your turn has come to share, grow or learn. They bring you an experience of peace or make you laugh. They may teach you something you have never done. They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy. Believe it, it is real. But only for a season.
LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons, things you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation. Your job is to accept the lesson, love the person and put what you have learned to use in all other relationships and areas of your life. It is said that love is blind but friendship is clairvoyant.
Thank you for being a part of my life,
whether you were a reason, a season or a lifetime.”

RECEIVED FROM

ROBERT NOEL

Dear Carl,

If there is anything that is going to heal the people and their land it is the truth; the unaltered truth. You must be willing to give it to them as it is, raw and undiluted. At your own expense you must be willing to put yourself aside and let the truth reign supreme. Can you undertake such a task? I am sure that you can.

I have seen you print some pretty bold materials; printing the truth is no greater. Can you without reservation state the facts that Haiti is a casualty of the same forces that kept black people down in the earlier years of segregation in the United States?

At the core of any repressive and stagnate social structure are the forces of Negation. negation is a force that restrained and keep people behind, denied them of their possibilities in life. The purpose for these restrictions is to maintain the adversarial system that is running the world. negation is the work of darkness, the work of the devil.

Why negation affects people of dark complexion more so than light complexion? Simple, the devil wants to establish whiteness as light in the world. Denying blacks and promoting whites help sustain the adversarial system, gives us our sense of self, pride, separating us from the awareness of our oneness with God and with man. Every time we negate someone to elevate ourselves we maintain the works of the devil, consuming the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil.

Carl, you have been a great source of information for me and for many in the Haitian community. Your work is indispensable.

Best wishes,

Robert

MY ANSWER

Dear Robert,
Thank you for your participation. I have been overwhelmed with work.  Sorry for the delay in posting your article.

Carl

REVISITING THE PAST

from

Robert Noel

( some extracts)

The struggle between the two classes of people in Haiti, separated by color and wealth, blacks the majority, the poorest and light skin and whites the minority, the richest, left a legacy of poverty to an entire nation. This is the same old song; the same old story repeated itself over and over again. It is Negation in action, the works of the devil. We saw it in action in the United States in James Crow law of segregation, Apartheid in South Africa, now ethnic cleansing in Sudan and in Chad.
today the United States is a better place for all people to live because Christ has shone his light upon a man, Martin Luther king showing us the path to the light. We need to look into the past to see the devastating effects of Negation on humanity. We need to assess the past in order to appreciate the present. Today there are two worlds in the making; there are two separate sets of people, moving in two separate directions.
Today there is a gap separating those that are far ahead with those that are far behind. This gap is widening wider and wider, creating a world of people that are left behind. This world is called the Third World. The people in that world are more sluggish, less cognizant to the demands of their environments. They are often bewildered and confused, unable to share their thoughts and visions with each other. They cannot unite as a unit to achieve great task. They produce third rate societies that are called banana republics. This is an accurate description of the Third World.
Why is the Past still present Among us?
Why the present can still be traced from the past. Why the past as far back as the Old Testament can still be traced today? Is the past refusing to go? What are the implications for an old world to continue to exist among us? How do we deal with people who are carrying the past with them? Do they think like us? Can we identify them and sort them out among us? Do they understand our world? How is their world different from ours? Can they relate to it, hinder it or help it excel and prosper? What do they need to do to catch up with us? How do we help them move forward with time?
The Taliban in Afghanistan, the Shiites in Iraq and in Iran, the ethnic pashtoon in Pakistan, are we ready to help them let go of the past?
These are the questions that we would have to ask ourselves if we are going to understand the cause of terrorism, poverty, the disease stricken world, and the desert type of world that the past continues to bring us. What is it in the people of the past that makes them unable to think like people in the present?  Why do their thoughts and feelings are still anchored in the past? We must know what is it in them that continues to create misery and ugliness in our world.
There are indeed two types of people in the world, those who are moving forward with time and those who are staying put joining those who are from the past.
What is a gate of hell? A gate of hell can be a place of birth; a country or a family ties. A gate of hell places restrictions and limitations on an individual, and these restrictions and limitations cause pains and sufferings.
Two sets of people, one set wants to remain in the past with the same mentality and its customs, the other wants to move ahead to a brighter future, leaving the past behind.
Humanity is like a large snake crawling its way up trough time, no matter how far removed some human beings are from the head, the tail is never far behind from the rest of the body. The tail represents the past, the body represents the present and the head represents the future.
Simple steps we can take that will lead us to a new life style:
1.- Love others as you love yourself.
2.- Forgive others that trespassed against you.
3.- Do unto others as you would want them do unto you,
4.- Turn the other cheek; that is to look for alternatives to resolve your conflicts, avoid
heads on collisions with others.
5.- Pick up your cross; that is to embrace the weakness and the short comings of your
fellow human beings.
6.- Deny yourself, self denial is necessary to avoid perpetuating the works of the devil.
7.- Love God above all else.

NO HURT LEFT UNVENTED

CARIBBEAN NET NEWS

by Gilbert NMO Morris

In reference to racist statements made by American comedian Michael Richards

Michael Richards

Americans are – programmatically – agog at the recent behaviour of Michael Richards; who played Cosmo Kramer on the Jerry Seinfeld show on TV; and, as if on cue, Black Americans, are venting their various "hurts" into the ready microphones of a scandal hungry media.

Ordinarily, I do not concern myself with these prurient tempests, (particularly in a week in which Milton Friedman has died), but really, it has gotten to be too much. First, there is an act of revealing stupidity, then a round… an absolute circus… of apologia. This is followed by assessments – by a variety of “sincerity analysts” - whose ostensible jobs are to determine whether – the now, rather convenient – apology was heartfelt, and further, whether certain insular and discrete minorities caught the inflection of the apology appurtenant to their specific unspeakable hurts.
Its all balderdash!
Here is the “skinny”, then let us be done with it:
First, Mr Richards has had a hard go of it since the final season of Seinfeld. He has been trying new shows (which failed, or bombed as they say), and new stand-up routines to revive his improbable career; saving him from either having a job like those in his audience, or serving in Rumsfeld’s Iraq, once Congressman Charles Rangel reinstitutes the military draft.
Imagine yourself in his position, knowing that he failed to ignite the audience because he was so unfunny. He was desperate, afraid and not a little hurt. And when the heckler heckled him, the heckler being black, Richard hurled what words were sure to hurt him as much. That is it: he wanted to hurt the fellow. But really, Mr Richard’s rant is less proof that he is racist, than it is that he is talentless, weak and self-absorbed; as are most people we call celebrities.
Second, were I Richards, I would refuse flatly to apologize to anyone. Why? First, because some of those who were offended by what he said got their satisfaction by calling him racist names; which proves that, like him, when they feel hurt, they can be… or say things… racist too. Second, it is impossible to apologize for such things in public settings. The best, if anything is to issue a statement and let oneself be attacked.
It can hardly be sensible to call Sharpton (much as one enjoys his new found prominence) or Rev. Jesse Jackson (whose relevance in these matters is impossible to comprehend).  Moreover, I see no reason to apologize to an entire race (or over sanctimonious members of other races) in which there are black people who themselves are openly prejudiced against other blacks.
Gandhi’s solution for a Hindu who caused the death of a Muslim child was to have the man adopt a Muslim child and raise him as a Muslim. I think Richards should, as I said, refuse to apologize, but find a school in a little black neighbourhood far from the media spotlight, and begin making enormous financial contributions, such as 25% of his royalties from Seinfeld syndication. In 10 years when we discover that that is what he has done, our acceptance of his contrition will be based upon a genuine exhibition of sustained sacrifice.
Is he a racist?  Well, are you?

OAS
TO OBSERVE VENEZUELA’S
PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION.

CARACAS, Venezuela (Reuters): The Organization of American States will observe Venezuela's December 3 presidential election, an OAS official said on Thursday, ensuring the presence of top Western diplomatic bodies in what may be a contentious vote.

Leftist President Hugo Chavez is favored to beat rival Manuel Rosales in polls. But Rosales recently warned of possible fraud and opposition leaders frequently accuse the state's electoral authority of favoring Chavez.

Mission chief Juan Fischer told reporters about 60 OAS observers would ensure citizens can "vote without any type of pressure" and that vote tallying would be done transparently.

Some 130 representatives from the European Union and eight to 10 observers from the Atlanta-based Carter Center also will oversee the vote.

Venezuela's opposition in 2004 accused electoral authorities of rigging a recall referendum on Chavez's rule, though the OAS and the Carter Center backed Chavez's overwhelming victory.

The two agencies were harshly criticized by the government in the leadup to the recall vote, and then lambasted by opposition leaders in its wake.

CUBANS STILL GETTING
USED TO

 FIDEL’S SILENCE
by Jeff Franks
HAVANA, Cuba (Reuters): A silence has settled over Cuban political life that ordinary Cubans find at once disconcerting and a big relief.

After decades of delivering long and frequent speeches, Cuban leader Fidel Castro has virtually disappeared while recovering from surgery and been replaced by his much more reticent brother Raul.

Now Castro's diatribes no longer interrupt regular programming on Cuban television and he does not hold center stage in the national limelight.

Castro, 80, has not been seen except for a few photographs and videos since announcing on July 31 that he had an intestinal operation and put Raul temporarily in control of the communist country he has run since a 1959 revolution.
Cubans say they are not sure what to make of it.

"He was the person who defined everything for us. Now nobody is saying anything, which makes me wonder what is going to happen next," said security guard Ernesto Valdares, 34.

"There are no speeches, nothing. It's very different," said a woman who would only give her first name, Dora.

Many people in Cuba quickly tell a visitor that they are "Fidelistas," or Fidel Castro supporters. But in the same breath they deny any interest in politics. They vow eternal support for Fidel Castro and say Raul does not inspire the same passion because he lacks charisma.

'IT'S A RELIEF'

But even some Fidelistas admit that Castro's silence has its good side.

"To tell you the truth, it's a relief not to have him talking so much. He was on television all the time," said Dora.

In contrast, Raul Castro has kept a low profile, only occasionally showing up at public events and keeping his comments, if any, brief.

Analysts speculate that Raul Castro, 75, is staying in the shadows out of deference to his brother and because he is a behind-the-scenes technocrat by nature. He has been Cuba's defense minister since 1959 and is credited with building the military into one of the country's most efficient institutions.

What follows this period of peace and quiet is the question of the hour in Cuba.

A clerk in a Havana clothing store, who gave only Ernesto as his name, said he expects everything to go on as before, whether Fidel Castro dies or recovers.

"The people on top don't want anything to change. They're doing well," he said.

But Valdares said he thinks a new government will be compelled to do something to improve Cuba's creaking economy, where the average Cuban makes the equivalent of just $15 a month and needs government food rations to get by.

"I'm very proud to be a Cuban and I'm happy with the way things are, but we need more money. If Raul takes over for Fidel, he'll have to make some changes," he said.
Puerto Rico send China out of
volleyball championships
SAITAMA, Japan (AFP): Puerto Rico sent Asian silver medallists China out of the competition with a four-set victory in the men's world volleyball championships on Wednesday.

The Puerto Ricans, determined to beat China for a better points ratio, rallied to a 25-17, 25-13, 21-25, 26-24 win for identical 2-3 win-loss record with China in the six-team Pool A round robin in Saitama.

Argentina defeated Egypt 25-18, 29-31, 25-20, 25-20 for the same 2-3 record.

It gave Argentina and Puerto Rico the third and fourth places to qualify for the second stage with a better points ratio of 490/493 (1.004) and 487/485 (0.993) against China's 473/499 (0.947).

Top four teams from each group will reach the second stage.

"It was a very important game and I'm very satisfied with the result. My players were nervous, maybe the Chinese too. Both teams made big mistakes. I'm very pleased that we can go into the second round," said Puerto Rican coach Carlos D. Cardona.

China's coach Zhou Jianan said: "My players couldn't play our normal game in the first two sets. We couldn't keep our concentration and couldn't block Puerto Rico's attacks. This is the reason of our defeat."

Meanwhile, Argentina's captain Marcos Milinkovic said: "We are not satisfied with the way we played. China, Puerto Rico, Argentina and Egypt were all at a close level to try to qualify for the next phase, but fortunately in the third set we played well and could get a good score."

All-conquering Brazil, who lost to France on Sunday, saved some face by finishing top by a better points ratio in Pool B in Fukuoka, with France taking second and Germany third with the same 4-1 win-loss records.

Brazil, the holders of the three major titles at the Olympics, the World Cup and the world championships, whipped Germany 25-13, 25-21, 25-22, while France outclassed 1989 World Cup winners Cuba 25-21, 25-19, 21-25, 25-17.

Bulgaria and Serbia and Montenegro, and Italy also finished top in their groups with Bulgaria beating the Czech Republic 20-25, 25-22, 25-20, 25-21 in Pool C in Nagano, the Serbians beating Canada 25-18, 25-18, 25-17 in Pool D in Sendai, and Poland beating Japan 25-18, 25-21, 25-23.

Three-time former world champions Italy brushed aside Venezuela 25-13, 22-25, 25-21, 25-15 to send their opponents out of competition…

Tu cama...

Se me olvida que te he querido tanto...
Que mi amaneceres estaban vacíos,
Que te echaba de menos...
Que las canciones parecían escritas para nosotros.

Se me olvidan las miradas cómplices...
Tus manos...

Tan grande...
Tan potentes los rayos del sol...
Que me han despertado del sueño...

Si... no tengo por quién vivirla... y yo...
No soy suficiente motivo.

¿Qué voy a hacer ahora?
Sin tu voz rigiendo mi camino...
Y si solo me quedo yo...
¿qué voy a hacer ahora?
A la mitad...

BON. E POU MWEN FINI ZANMI MWEN YO.- Pwòvèb-la pou jodi-a: “Chak ravin desann avèk krabinay a-li”. Mwen pale e mwen ekri deja sou peyi Bresil ak peyi Lajantin, e mwen gen pou mwen tounen sou yo.

Gen kèk lot peyi mwen gen nan tèt mwen kon Lostrali, Tahiti, Lafrans, La Swiss, ak Santo Domingo. Lè nou gade byen, planèt sa-a tou piti men chak moun fè esperians yo tèl ou tèl kote. Pou mwen pale ak kè mwen sou yon peyi se pou mwen konen-li pèsonèlman, se pou mwen viv ladan-li pou yon tan .Pa kon you touris. Se kon madanm mwen ki ka pale sou peyi d’Ayiti, Japon, peyi Lend ,peyi Lachin, Hong Kong, Macaau, Taiwan, paske li ale ladan-yo e li fè kèk tan .Mwen konn peyi sa-yo pousa moun di mwen de yo ak sa mwen li nan liv, men se pa menm bagay-la. Alos mwen rekomande tout jenn moun ki gen opotinite-an, malgre tout vyie teroris ki pa vle moun viv (nap mouri tout jan), vwayaje, vwayaje, vwayaje men pa fè de grenn jou. Lè mwen te jenn gason manman mwen te konn repete mwen: “Voir Paris et mourir.”Mwen wè vil Paris e se lè sa-a mwen koumanse viv.

Gen yon slogan peyi Kiba ki di “kiben lib kou pye palmye.” Yon lot ki di “revolysion nan kè yon moun.” Yon lot “Che pa janm mouri.” Fidel fè yon diskou kote li deklare: “ Si yo te di mwen 99 pou san pèp kiben-an pa kwè nan revolision-an mwen ta kontinyue goumen pou kont mwen. Yon revolusionè se yon nèg menm si li pou kont-li, li kontinyue goumen pou konviksion-li.”

Youn nan pli gran mizisien peyi Kiba revolisyion-an te pèmèt devlope talan-li se Arturo Sandoval, you gwo tronpetis ki isit  Miami. Yo te konn rele-li nan peyi Kiba “El Mulo”, sa ki vle di “Milet lan”. Arturo te viv an gran nèg peyi Kiba ak madam-li epi yon pitit gason. Fidel te bali yon bon kay pou li rete ak tout kalite avantaj pou li te fè mizik-li jan li vle. Men, libète tout bon se pa yon bagay kè yon moun janm bliye. Sandoval vizite tou patou sou la tè pou li voye moute peyi Kiba, men sèl kote gouvènman kiben-an pate pèmèt-li vizite sete kay tonton Sam. Se menm istwa Adan ak Èv lan. Arturo ta pe vizite peyi Langletè ak madanm-li epi pitit-li. Depatman Deta meriken fann dèyè-li epi ashte figu-li. De tan twa mouvman Sandoval defekte ak fanmi-li vil Miyami. Anplis Arturo Sandoval te enterese nan mizik jazz nwa meriken yo e isit li ka explore sa byen. Kiben vil Miyami bat bravo et pwemye chante Sandoval konpoze lè li rive kay tonton Sam, li rele-li “ Flight to Freedom.”

Arturo Sandoval se yon mizisien tout pèp kiben-an te apresie. Veye zo-nou deyo-an. Bal la koumanse pou semen-lan..  Na pale denmen si granmèt la vle.
